Children In Maine State Custody...As of 2024*
In Kennebec County Alone...
Deaths between 2019 and 2024
I’m fighting to reform Maine’s foster youth system because I lived it. I know what it’s like to feel forgotten, moving from home to home. No child in state custody should die waiting for help, or age out without guidance, love, or opportunity.
This is about people. It’s about creating a system that protects, mentors, and prepares our youth for life, not just paperwork. Every number on a state report is a child with a name, a story, and potential. That’s why I won’t stop until Maine’s foster care system truly serves the children it was meant to protect.
From foster care to founder, Shawn Packard’s journey is one of perseverance, faith, and service. Having grown up in foster homes across Maine, he experienced firsthand the shortcomings of the state’s youth system - and that experience fuels his commitment to reform it. Today, as a husband, father, and community-minded entrepreneur, Shawn stands as a steadfast advocate for Maine families who too often feel unheard in Augusta.
Through years of grassroots involvement, he has shared the stories of everyday Mainers, supported small businesses, and volunteered his time to strengthen the communities he calls home. His campaign is guided by humility and conviction - centered on restoring common sense, protecting children, and bringing integrity back to public service.
Shawn is dedicated to repairing Maine’s foster system, defending the state’s renewable resources, improving practical education in schools, and confronting the challenges of addiction and homelessness with compassion and accountability. Grounded in biblical principles and a deep love for Maine, he believes that real leadership begins with people - not politics.
“I’m here to protect our kids, our communities, and our Maine values.” - Shawn P.
